What should students be doing in year 1 and 2?
Students may reach out at any time to discuss research projects, clinical shadowing, and other ways to get involved with the department. Students may contact Dr. Chietero to arrange this.
What should students be doing in year 3 and 4?
Doing as well as possible and doing well on Step 2 CK. All students spend 2 weeks on Anesthesiology during their Surgery-Anesthesiology Clerkship. In addition, there is plenty of elective time for them to do electives in anesthesiology here at Sinai.
Is an away elective recommended?
Optional but variable depending on individual circumstances.

Students can join the American Society of Anesthesiologist as student members.

At least one letter from an Anesthesiologist, but a max of 2 letters from anesthesiology. Other helpful letters can be from research mentors, medicine or surgery letters, or any letter from a clinical faculty who knows the student well and can speak to their positive attributes.
