55 Days of Change

We are 55 days into a pandemic that has changed our lives and our world forever. Those of us who call NYC home have lost more than 10,000 members of our community. Many of us have friends, neighbors, loved ones and family who have been touched by illness and death as a result of COVID-19. We all carry the burden of this trauma as we try even harder to study, volunteer, work, and maintain a semblance of normalcy in our daily lives. It is important that we remember to stay connected, check in on each other and support one another as we navigate whatever the future has in store for us. How can we do this better as an extended family? Are there ways we can share experiences and memories, some laughter and some sadness, some quiet moments for reflection?

VSLO Closure by AAMC

Just announced late this afternoon, the Visiting Student Learning Opportunities (VSLO) program will put into place a short-term two-week suspension on applications to away rotations from April 15-28, resuming on April 29th, as stakeholders across the medical education community discuss how to approach away rotations in this current and next academic year.

During this time, students, Home and Host institutions will not have access to the system.

Wellness Wise: Coping with Uncertainty

The last few weeks have challenged us like never before. During the COVID-19 pandemic, it may feel like the more answers we receive, the more questions we have. As daily activities and events that we relied on are cancelled, we are left to deal with the discomfort that results from not knowing exactly what lays ahead. For some people, it may come naturally to sit with the unknown. But, for others, not knowing and feeling uncertain is an uncomfortable state. For some of us, being able to schedule ahead, plan and have satisfying answers allows us to avoid anxiety of the unknown. Being able to tolerate the unknown is a coping skill that we do not always have a chance to develop.
