Response to Prometric Cancellations
We are so sorry that many of you have been affected by the cancellations coming out of Prometric today. Right now, we can only empathize - studying for Step is a hard road under the best of circumstances, and we know it has now become harder. The USMLE has put out official language on this situation HERE and this is all we know today.
If you did not receive a cancellation email, assume your test is happening as planned, but check your email daily in case of changes. We do not know if there will be further cancellations in the coming days.
Please read more here about what to do.

If your test was cancelled:.
- First off, please let us know. It is imperative we have an accurate count of our students who are impacted by cancellations.
- Try the rescheduling link in your email. If it does work for you, let one of us know the type of options you are seeing.
- Please consult your faculty advisor or one of us before rescheduling, as the third year lottery has not come out yet.
- If the link does not work, Prometric should email you in the coming days with options.
- From a wellness perspective, slow down. Take the rest of Renal, at least, off from Step studying. Feel whatever feelings you are having.
- As to studying, again, take a break through the end of Renal. Hold off on making a new specific game plan- while Lauren is happy to help, there are too many unknowns at this point.
- During what would have been dedicated, when you are ready, move to a maintenance study plan of just a few hours per day - a selection of Anki, if you use it, and 10 or so questions. Take weekends off. You can also use this time to do all the things you did not have time for before. Draw that pathway. Talk through 5 questions with a friend. Go down the rabbit hole on Up to Date. Do not use up practice tests.
Please know that any of us, and your faculty advisors, stand ready to hear how you feel about this, and please know we are doing our best to gather and disseminate information as it comes in, and make timely but thoughtful decisions in your best interest.
Happy to be working with you, Dr. Lauren Linkowski Dr. David Muller Dr. Reena Karani Dr. Tara Cunningham
