Racism and Bias Initiative Session
It is difficult to express the anger, frustration, sadness and shame that we feel having witnessed again and again the senseless killings of Black men in our country. The killings of Ahmaud Arbery and George Floyd are stark reminders of how deeply rooted racism and white supremacy are in our lives and the lives of our loved ones, patients, and communities. On Thursday, June 4th at 4pm EST we are hosting a community conversation with the Racism and Bias Initiative called Let Me Breathe: Black Lives Matter and White Fragility. We plan to engage in an honest dialogue that will allow us to reflect and spark action. The conversation is open to everyone and will take place on Zoom at https://mssm.zoom.us/j/8933829595
NYC Curfew and Protesting Guidelines
New York City has imposed a citywide curfew, starting this evening, from 11 pm to 5 am. If you are traveling to or from work during these hours, be sure to carry your Mount Sinai ID card in case you are stopped by the police.
Please be safe when engaging in your constitutional right to gather and express your views through protest. While there are many well-intended movements, we are also bearing witness to criminal activity that can put bystanders in very dangerous and compromised situations with very short notice. If you find yourself in this situation and become detained by police, know your rights.
