Communication Plan

As we near the start of the academic year for each of our student cohorts, our communication plan will include maintaining the frequency of the monthly class town hall meetings, and ramping up the frequency of our Daily Digests from twice a week to daily. Our goal is to provide you with transparent, timely, and accurate information, without overloading your inboxes and without sharing program decisions and initiatives before they have been finalized and, when relevant, approved by our governance structure. We deeply appreciate your patience and the partnership of all the class reps.

Academic Year Clarification

We want to clarify the academic year term that impacts loan periods/disbursements and other external reporting agencies. There is no change to the AY 2019-2020 or AY 2020-2021 start/end dates.

Block 0 is occurring in the Spring 2020 (AY 2019-2020) and the course registration and grade will be reflected on the transcript in that term.

AY 2020-2021 for rising MS3s begins on June 29, 2020 and on July 6, 2020 for rising MS4s.

Anti-body Testing

Ending on June 26, students can be tested for antibodies at Mount Sinai in the Annenberg Lobby.

Walk-ins are available on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 7am – 3pm and Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9am – 5pm. If you prefer to make an appointment, complete the 2-step process: choose a time at SignUp Genius HERE and then complete the personal information collection.

After June 26, testing will remain with a reduced schedule (meaning no walk-in). We encourage you to alter your arrival back to campus to take advantage of the lobby walk-in availability.

Class of 2021

Use this form HERE to tell MedEd the resources you need for your USMLE timeline. This is critical and time sensitive. We need responses by June 22, 2020 in order to update our subscription order.

UWorld will be extended for those who indicate this preference, which will not be an expenditure on your part. If you prefer, you can request reimbursement for the AMBOSS, Kaplan, or USMLE Rx question banks, not to exceed 500$. If you opt out of UWorld renewal, you will be expected to pay for your chosen question bank out of pocket, and submit receipts for reimbursement. You may not request both UWorld extension and an alternate question bank.

Pathway to Residency - New Program and Clarification

The Pathway to Residency program continues to accept applications through June 22.
As a reminder, this is an opportunity to interview and be considered for acceptance directly into one of the Mount Sinai Health System residency programs in their chosen specialty.

Virtual Electives in VSLO

According to the newest update from the VSLO Team, there are 39 virtual electives offered by 23 host institutions. You can search options by typing "virtual" in the search bar on Find an Elective. Virtual interviews may provide a glimpse into a program of interest for residency, so check out the offerings.

Emergency Kit and iPad Distribution

Be sure to stop by during your assigned time on Thursday June 18, 1:00-5:00pm in lab room 12-62 in Annenberg. Only students who have Year 3 clerkships will receive the iPad.

Students are divided alphabetically into the following 4 groups and we highly encourage students to come during their assigned hour to avoid crowds, for everyone’s safety. However, you are welcome to come anytime between 1 and 5pm.
