MS4 Early Graduation Survey

As the Medical Education Deans continue working on the logistics of what an early graduation might look like, there are many details that will help us determine eligibility for early graduation (possibly mid-April). Please take one minute to let us know so that we can do our best to plan for an early graduation. We request responses by 12pm, Friday March 27th. Thanks for partnering with us on this effort.

MS4 Residency Paperwork and Financial Aid Counseling

Week of March 30: The Registrar’s office is physically open on Monday (3/30) and Thursday (4/2) next week to process residency paperwork. Please come prepared with all required paperwork.

Financial Aid Counseling: A Note from LaVerne Walker, MBA, Director of Student Financial Services

Graduating students who borrowed federal and ISMMS loans during their medical school education are required to complete an online Exit Counseling*. However, Student Financial Services invites all students not to miss the opportunity to partake in a one-to-one session with a Student Financial Service's financial aid professional to discuss the economic impact on transiting into residency strategically. Email studentfinancialservices@mssm.edu to reserve a session.

MS3 Town Hall Debrief and Recording

Thank you for your participation in tonight’s Year 3 Town Hall. We want to recognize we were unable to answer all your questions and will work on answering those and sending them out tomorrow. We also heard your questions about having visuals and talking points from the meeting to help you conceptualize the potential changes. In the meantime while we work on those elements and get approval from the LCME, please send additional questions to your class reps and your Executive Oversight Committee (EOC) representative, Melissa Hill to help us answer all your questions.

Plea for Social Distancing

We are writing to highlight and emphasize what we communicated on Monday March 23, 2020:

It is imperative that we all practice social distancing. With the increased occurrence of COVID19 in our community, there are students with symptoms, with presumptive illness and with confirmed illness. These results are not unexpected and simply highlight the importance of sheltering in place.

From a practical perspective this means that every member of our community should not have visitors to their home, should leave their apartment only for essential activities, stay 6 feet from others when doing so, be very aware of decreasing the touching of surfaces and wash your hands after all such contacts.

We understand that this feels frightening. We want to reemphasize that we are proactively delivering excellent medical care to all students and we hope this gives you all some solace.

New Elective Offerings

Please look on the Medical Student Electives section on Blackboard (Student Resources>>Medical Student Electives) for updated information on Electives during COVID-19.
