March 9 Bulletin

Edit

The School’s response to COVID-19 is continuously adapting to the rapidly changing nature of the virus and its impact around the world. The health and safety of our students and trainees is our highest priority, and our institutional policies and procedures must support that objective as the COVID-19 outbreak evolves.

Effective immediately, all students, residents, clinical fellows and postdocs must register their personal domestic and international travel in advance by completing this brief FORM. The form collects basic information about planned personal travel both within and outside of the United States from now through Tuesday, June 30, 2020.

Personal Domestic and International Travel vs. Mount Sinai Travel

Personal Domestic and International Travel is any travel within the United States and abroad exclusively for personal reasons, such as vacations or trips to visit family and friends. Personal Domestic and International Travel is not sponsored by Mount Sinai nor is it covered by Mount Sinai’s insurance. Personal Domestic and International Travel must be registered using the form linked above.

Mount Sinai Travel is any travel abroad related to a Mount Sinai-sponsored program, activity or business. Mount Sinai Travel is covered by Mount Sinai’s insurance and must be registered with International SOS (Mount Sinai’s emergency medical and security assistance provider). This requirement was already in place prior to the outbreak of COVID-19. Click HERE for more information about Mount Sinai Travel.

We strongly recommend that you do not travel to any countries designated with a Level 2 or Level 3 Health Notice by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Click HERE for the latest COVID-19 risk assessment by country. If you choose to ignore this recommendation and travel to one of these countries for personal reasons, upon your return you must:

Importantly, if you are on a Mount Sinai-sponsored visa, please make sure to contact the International Personnel Office at 212-241-8300 to ensure you have the appropriate documentation to facilitate your re-entry to the United States after traveling abroad.

Thank you in advance for adhering to the new requirement for registering all personal domestic and international travel. We will continue to inform you of any additional changes to the School’s travel policies and our overall response to COVID-19.
