LOOKING UP AND CONTACTING MEMBERS OF THE TEAM
For AMION: Typing in mssm will bring up the master list. You can look through this to find the person/team you need.
You can text page a person from AMION by clicking on their pager number.
Paging: those with pagers have a long range pager number and a short range number. Use the latter when you are trying the reach them from in house.
Sinai Hospital in-house numbers start with a 2, 3, 4, 5 or 8. Extensions have 5 digits (e.g. 41675 or 31690 etc).
Long range pager numbers have 10 digits like a phone number. They can be dialed from in house phone lines. Dial 9-1-area code-number and then after the beep, enter your number followed by the # sign.
Short range pager numbers have 4 digits. They can be dialed from in house phone lines. Dial 41300 and then at the prompt, enter the short range pager number and then your number followed by the # sign.
One way to ensure that someone you page knows how to reach you if you step away from the phone you paged them to is to enter your pager number or cell phone number after the extension.
So, after punching in 41675, punch in the * key and then your cell phone or pager number followed by the # sign. The * key puts a space between the two numbers.
One tip to bear in mind though: you’ll make a person very frustrated if you page them to a number and then step away without waiting a reasonable time! If you’re not going to be there for a few minutes, then page them to your cell OR text page them.
Never page someone to a 2 or 3 number UNLESS that is the only number on the phone. If the person you are paging is outside the hospital, they cannot call a 2 or 3 number back!
If you need to reach the operator to ask for a pager number, call 41800. They will likely give you the short range number and you have to ask for the long range one if you want it.
