FACES OF PATIENT SAFETY

Session Description: Linda Kenney went into the hospital for an ankle replacement. She came out with a host of complications resulting from a mistake that no one was willing to admit. Until Rick Van Pelt, her anesthesiologist stepped forward. Patients expect physicians, nurses and other health care providers to follow the best practices for delivering safe and consistently good care. In this session, you will hear personal stories from a patient and her provider of preventable harm in health care and the impact it had on their lives and how this is a powerful motivational force for health-care providers who wish, first, to do no harm.
