IV INSERTION & VENIPUNCTURE SKILLS
Session Description: Patient safety and quality is central to the delivery of healthcare. The report of the Commission on Patient Safety and Quality Assurance identified that healthcare delivery should be based on patients receiving safe and effective care from skilled professionals in appropriate environments. Every year thousands of patients, both adult and child, undergo IV insertion and venipuncture in different healthcare settings. They have been identified the most common invasive procedures in hospitals. Proper training of students to ensure their safety as well as their patients while performing these procedures is critical.
