Needlestick/Puncture Wound/Blood Body Fluid Exposure (BBFE)
In the event of a medical student exposure to blood or another potentially infectious body fluid:* (see over for other training sites)
- WASH the area with soap and water. If mucous membrane exposure (eyes, nose, mouth), flush with water.
- REPORT to area supervisor/nurse manager.
- NOTIFY at Mount Sinai: Needle-Stick Coordinator M-F 9am-5pm (Dial x41300 and enter beeper # 4118) for off hours & holidays Dial “0” for Assistant Administrator on call.
- GO TO Jack Martin Fund Clinic (M-F 9am-4pm) or Emergency Dept. (at all other times)
- TAKE Employee Accident/Injury report with you for medical evaluation.
