Learning Objectives: At the end of this session, the student learners will:
- Identify specific instances where bias – either in myself or in my team – impacted patient care
- Describe common sociopolitical dominant narratives that undergird bias in clinical practice before, during, and after the patient encounter
- Reflect on and practice techniques to mitigate these dominant narratives to allow ourselves to think critically about how systems of oppression and exclusion impact patient care and to begin to mitigate this impact
