SIM - Pediatrics
Session Description: In this SIM session you will learn about the management of pediatric respiratory distress by utilizing the PALS algorithms for respiratory distress/failure. The focus will also be on the demonstration of the value of acquiring a systematic history in an emergency scenario as well as effective team communication.

Learning Objectives: At the end of this session, the student learners will:
- Learn how to work as a clinical team
- Patient Safety/Quality Improvement
- Evaluate a pediatric patient with respiratory distress
- Practice the administration of albuterol nebulizer
- Describe the different modes of oxygen administration and their applicability within various age groups:
- Nasal cannula
- Simple face mask
- Venturi mask
- Non-rebreather
- Positive pressure: high flow nasal cannula, CPAP/BiPAP, intubation
- Practice signouts/calling consults
- Practice communication during a pediatric resuscitation
- Medicine Reconciliation
