PATIENT ON A VENT
Session Description: Patients requiring prolonged mechanical ventilation are rapidly increasing in number. There are more patients now on ventilators outside the ICU care settings. It is imperative that clinical students be knowledgeable about the function and limitations of ventilator modes, causes of respiratory distress and dyssynchrony with the ventilator in order to provide high-quality patient-centered care. At their current Year 3 level, they should also be able to recognize problems and be able to effectively communicate these findings to more knowledgeable care team members.
Speakers: Joanne Hojsak MD
Location: Annbg. 13-10
